Project
£12/mo · included from CoreSnagging and defect management that closes out
Every snag gets a number, a title, a photo, a location down to the floor and the room, a trade and somebody’s name against it. Then it runs through open, in progress, rectified and signed off, with the name and date of whoever signed it. Group them into punch lists per job, one per plot or handover round. Included from Core up.
What the Defect Management module does
- Numbers each defect and attaches it to a job, with title, description and photo.
- Pins the defect to a location, a floor level and a room, so a snag on the fourth floor of a block can actually be found again.
- Assigns to a person and records the trade responsible.
- Carries a priority of low, medium or high and a due date alongside the raised date.
- Four statuses: open, in progress, rectified, signed off. The last two carry a date, and the sign-off carries a name.
- Groups defects into punch lists per job, each with its own title, description, status and closed date.
- Links site photos to a defect, so the same evidence serves the diary and the RFI without being uploaded three times.
Defect Management: how it works
When is a snag actually closed?
Not when the trade says it’s done. Rectified is their word for it. Signed off means somebody with the authority to accept it has been and looked, and Estimark keeps their name and the date. Treat those two as the same thing and you get a snagging list that’s clear on paper while the client keeps finding the same items at handover.
How are snags organised on a big job?
Into punch lists. Each one groups defects under a title with its own status and closed date, usually one per plot, floor or handover round. Add the floor level and room on the defect itself and you can walk a block clearing rooms in order.
Can a client raise a defect themselves?
During the defects liability period, yes. Warranty Management takes client-reported defects against the warranty period, and that’s a separate record from a construction-phase snag. Snagging during the build is raised by your team.

Questions
Defect Management: frequently asked
Which plan includes defect management?
It’s included from Core up. On a lower plan it’s £12 a month on its own.
Can I snag from a phone on site?
Yes. Estimark installs as a progressive web app with an offline field mode, so you can log a snag and a photo as you walk the job. Native apps for iPhone and Android are on the way, and neither is on a store yet. The iPhone app opens the camera before it asks for a word, records photo or video, and can drop the snag as a pin on the drawing.
What is a punch list?
A grouped set of defects on a job, usually one per plot, floor or handover round, with its own title, status and closed date. Estimark keeps punch lists alongside individually numbered defects.
