What the Plant & Equipment module does

How does Estimark handle plant maintenance intervals?
A schedule per item, with a service type, an interval in days, the date it was last done and the next-due date that falls out of those. Every completed service is logged with the date, who did it, the cost and the new due date. The schedule moves on from a record, not from somebody snoozing a reminder.
NoteThis is a general recurring service and inspection mechanism, driven by a service type and an interval in days. Set it to whatever regime applies to that item. Estimark doesn’t build a statutory inspection regime in for you, so the intervals are yours to get right.
How is plant charged to a job?
Through the usage log. The item goes out against a job with an operator and a location, comes back in, and the hours it ran get recorded. Put that against the hire or owned rate and you’ve got the plant cost line. Timesheet entries can be categorised as plant too.
What is the QR code on a plant item for?
Working out what you’re looking at. Each item can carry a QR code next to its serial number, current location and status. Scan the thing in front of you and you get the record that knows its service history and where it’s meant to be.

Can I track hired plant as well as owned?
Yes. Mark the item hired, owned or both. Hire rate and owned rate are separate fields, and hired items carry the supplier’s name and your reference.
Does Estimark record who has a piece of plant right now?
Yes. The usage log holds the operator, the job, the location, the check-out and check-in times and the hours used. The item itself carries a current location and a status.
